Dr. Raktim Roy

Principal Investigator

I am a former Scripps Fellow and a new PI. I am always excited about science and I enjoy a multitude of problems related to structural biology as well as questions that relate to the origin of life!

I like to think of the problem of ‘Origin of Life’ as an onion! It can be defined in so many ways: What was the first molecule that could self-replicate? What was the first cell like? What was the first template? And so on…

My interests in Non-Ribosomal Peptide Synthetase (NRPS) research stemmed from the ideas of template-free synthesis. Having done some research on the canonical peptide synthesis machinery (The Ribosome), I am thoroughly excited to discover more about the intricacies of the NRPS system with my lab.

Brittany Wheatley

GRADUATE STUDENT.

Brittany is a rising second year graduate student. She is fun, hard-working and a complete cat-lady (also low-key a SKAGGS Fellow!). We are delighted to have her as a part of our group and expect some really phenomenal research in the coming years. Her current work on condensation domains of NRPS will undoubtedly get you excited about the NRPS world.
